STAMFORD — Police say they have arrested a local man who is accused of possessing hundreds of child sexual abuse photos and videos.
Stamford police said they arrested Medhi Jafri, 33, and charged him with first-degree possession of child pornography and promoting a minor in an obscene performance.
Police said their investigation began in June when they were alerted to the download of a large number of child sexual abuse files in Stamford. Investigators used a special software that allowed them to pinpoint the exact location of the download, police said.
In August, police executed a search warrant at Jafri’s Prospect Street apartment and seized a number of items, including a laptop. Police said 520 images and eight videos of child sexual abuse material were found on the laptop.
Police said they were aided in their investigation by the Department of Homeland Security and Westport Police.
Jafri is free on a $125,000 bond and is scheduled to appear Jan. 11 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
