The ‘boyfriend’ of runaway teenager Alicia Navarro has been charged with sexual abuse of children.
Edmund Davis, 36, was arrested Monday and charged with two felony counts of abuse of children related to material found on his cellphone, according to a release from the Montana Attorney General’s Office.
The cellphone and other material was seized in July after Navarro — who disappeared from her home in Arizona in 2019 aged 14 — had presented herself to police in Havre, Montana, and said she wanted to be taken off the missing persons list.
Shortly after interviewing Navarro, now 18, police served a search warrant for an apartment where they had learned she was living with Davis.
As she answered the door to officers, Davis was observed attempting to throw a cell phone away and hide it in the trash.

According to the Attorney General’s release: “Dozens of images of suspected child sex abuse material were located on the device, confirmed to belong to Davis.”
The phone and other electronic devices seized from the apartment were analyzed by the Glendale Police Department in Arizona.
“Following their protocols, Glendale Police selected ten images from those found and brought them to medical experts.

“The review determined the individuals depicted to be under the age of 13, with two images of children under the age of 5,” according to the release and charging documents.
Searches of other devices owned by Davis concluded they “contained images of infants and toddlers and other computer-generated or animated content showing children being sexualized.”
Shortly after the police raid locals told The Post Davis, a former nighttime stocker at Wal Mart, had been living with Navarro for at least a year.

Former colleagues of Davis said he would refer to Navarro as his niece and that she was “too young” to go to bars with them, while a neighbor said she called him her ‘uncle.’
“They were using the cover…about it being his niece,” an employee previously said.
News of Davis’ arrest shocked those who had worked with Davis.
Davis is being held in the Hill County Detention Center on a $1 million bond.
“It’s terrible. It’s gross and I can’t believe he was doing that to all those kids,” a former Walmart coworker told The Post Tuesday.
“He always had a hard shell. He wouldn’t talk a lot. He would be very defensive when someone would talk about him. It’s kinda a confusing thought that someone can do all that and hide it all and not show any emotion,” they added.
Shortly after the police raid the pair moved into the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation in Montana in August.
Navarro’s disappearance sparked a nationwide search, though authorities said she “willfully left her home” just days before her 15th birthday. A missing person report at the time described Navarro as autistic but high-functioning.
Her mother, Jessica Nuñez, had launched a campaign to help find her and regularly posted online about her missing daughter.
When she was found she said: “For everyone who has missing loved ones, I want you to use this case as an example,” she said in a Facebook video. “Miracles do exist. Never lose hope and always fight.”
The mother and daughter were reunited over video call but police cautioned that, as an adult, Navarro was under no obligation to travel back to Arizona.
On September 20, Nuñez posted on Facebook: “Happy Birthday I know this message will be seen and I just want to say that I love you and will always will be here … We are connected always 5 years of birthdays celebrating at heart like I always do I will light a candle for you.”
The first count against Davis, possession of images of a child under 12 engaged in sexual conduct, carries a prison sentence of between 25 and 100 years. The second count of child abuse can result in a sentence between four years and life imprisonment.
Davis is being held in the Hill County Detention Center on a $1 million bond.
