Bihar Villagers Steal Road? Viral Video Shows People Taking Home Cement, Construction Materials
In an unusual yet not the first event in Bihar, villagers in Jehanabad district made off with construction materials meant for a partially constructed 3-kilometer road. A video has surfaced on the internet, depicting residents of Audan Bigha village enthusiastically collecting various construction supplies, including concrete, sand, and stone chips, and transporting them back home. The video quickly gained attention on the micro-blogging site ‘X,’ provoking a humourous response on the micro-blogging site ‘X.’
Upon the video’s circulation, people on ‘X’ began making witty comments. One user remarked, “Govt tried to make a road for villagers in Bihar, the villagers started looting material of the road and took it home…Never change my Bihar.”

Another user exclaimed, “Bihari apne gaon k vikas pe bhari,” while a third one quipped, “Some people just have a unique way of showing their appreciation!”

According to reports, the road’s construction was initiated to enhance the village’s connectivity with the district headquarters and was part of the Chief Minister Village Road Project. RJD MLA Satish Kumar had laid the road’s foundation two months prior, but construction came to a standstill after the villagers absconded with all the materials.
“We laid down the foundation stone of this road project around two months ago and accordingly the construction was underway. The contractors were completed partially but its cementation was not started. The construction materials of the road were stolen by some of the villagers,” said Satish Kumar. ,” stated Satish Kumar.

Furthermore, a complaint has been registered at the Makhdumpur police station, and an ongoing investigation is in progress.

Nevertheless, this incident is not the first of its kind, where Bihar residents have been involved in the audacious theft of constructed items. Previously, in Samastipur, Bihar, thieves allegedly stole a nearly two-kilometre-long railway track, a truly astounding occurrence. According to media reports, the bizarre theft came to light in January this year, prompting an official investigation by the Railways department. Unidentified thieves in Samastipur district were responsible for this shocking incident, where a 2-kilometre railway track linked the Lohat sugar mill with the Pandaul railway station.
