St. Louis City firefighter accused possessing child sexual abuse material
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – A St. Louis City firefighter is accused of possessing over 200 videos of child sexual abuse material, investigators said.
Prosecutors charged 50-year-old Jarret Morton on Thursday with two counts of possessing more than 20 photos or videos of child pornography, a class B felony. A no-bond warrant has been issued for his arrest. Court documents do not indicate he is currently in custody.
According to a St. Louis Metropolitan Police probable cause statement, investigators received a tip from the Center for Missing and Exploited Children on Jan. 30 about a sexually explicit video involving a minor on a Dropbox account.
The videos were accessed by a screen name of Jarret Morton and the IP address was traced back to a St. Louis City firehouse, according to investigators. Morton is employed as a fireman at the firehouse the IP address was tracked to, investigators said in the statement.
Investigators said through a forensic search of Morton’s cell phone, a total of 221 videos were found to be child sexual abuse material.
First Alert 4 has reached out to the St. Louis Fire Department for comment and has not yet heard back.
